About us
This website is in Dutch, with the exception of this page and its subpage(s).
The Ars Floreat Foundation (“may the arts flourish”) was established in 1982, originating from the Dutch School of Philosophy, with the aim of promoting the study of literature, arts, and sciences. In practice, its activities have focused on the small-scale publication of spiritual texts.
The foundation’s philosophical basis lies in the Indian tradition of Advaita Vedanta – often referred to as the philosophy of unity or non-duality. Key sources of inspiration include the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, the Bible, the works of Plato, and the Conversations with Sri Shantananda Sarasvati, former Shankaracharya of Jyotir Math.
This practical philosophy seeks to elevate the mind above everyday concerns and mechanical thinking, and to enrich human life through meditation, love, and understanding. The activities of Ars Floreat are carried out pro deo by volunteers.
Today, Ars Floreat is affiliated with the Dutch School of Practical Philosophy and Spirituality, and strives to make spiritual texts available to a broad Dutch-speaking audience. In addition, Ars Floreat supports the ongoing mission of Gaiea Sanskrit.
